Installation

Install the plugin

    Open the plugin settings

    Settings › Plugins (⌘, on Mac, Ctrl+Alt+S on Windows and Linux), Marketplace tab.

    Search for “Nella” and install

    Click Install: no restart is needed, and the IDE keeps the plugin up to date.

    Open Nella

    Nella tool window, on the right (⌃⌘N on Mac, Ctrl+Alt+Shift+O elsewhere), then sign in.

    Click “Download the plugin (.zip)” and keep it as is, without unzipping it.

    Install it from disk

    Settings › Plugins › ⚙ › “Install Plugin from Disk…”, then pick the file.

When will the plugin be on JetBrains Marketplace?

Which IDEs are supported?

Android Studio Narwhal (2025.1) and later (Otter, Panda, Quail, Rabbit…), IntelliJ IDEA 2025.1 and later, as well as PyCharm, WebStorm, GoLand, PhpStorm, Rider, CLion, RubyMine and RustRover from build 251.

What code is sent to Nella?

Only what you point at: the selection, else the function around the caret; for “Fix Problems”, the lines around the errors; for a commit, the selected changes. No other file is read.

How do I get updates for the .zip file?

Add the Nella plugin repository once in Settings › Plugins › ⚙ › “Manage Plugin Repositories…”: the IDE will offer you every new version, just like with the Marketplace.

Is the plugin free?

Yes. Try it without an account, then use Nella Quick for free with a Free account. The Pro and Max plans add the more powerful models.

Do I need to restart the IDE?

No. The plugin installs and updates without a restart: open the Nella tool window on the right and sign in.

Are my conversations the same everywhere?

Yes. Sign in with the same account and your conversations and plan follow you on the web, iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows, Linux, VS Code, browsers and Microsoft Office.
