Designed for Linux

Two formats, no compromise.

  • Portable AppImage

A single file, no installation and no admin rights: make it executable and run it.

  • Signed self-update

The AppImage downloads the new version, verifies its signature and SHA-256 checksum, then replaces itself.

  • .deb package

For Ubuntu, Debian, Linux Mint and Pop!_OS: Nella installs with apt and joins your applications menu.

  • Keyboard shortcuts

Ctrl+N for a new conversation, Ctrl+, for settings, and a single window at a time.

The same everywhere

Everything Nella does, here too.

The same account, the same conversations and the same plan on all your devices: what you start on one continues on the other.

  • Chat and write

Emails, letters, summaries, outlines: describe what you need and Nella writes it in your language.

  • Build websites and apps

Nella writes the code and shows the result live, in an isolated frame. Included in every plan, starting with a Free account.

  • Web search with sources

For news and recent facts, Nella searches the web and cites its sources.

  • Files and photos

Attach a document or a photo: Nella reads it, summarizes it or answers your questions about it.

  • Memory

Your name, your work, your preferences: Nella remembers them from one conversation to the next.

  • Projects

Group the conversations about one topic so you can pick up each piece of work where you left it.

  • Dictation and read aloud

Speak instead of typing, and have answers read aloud.

  • Six languages

English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Arabic, with a right-to-left layout in Arabic.

  • Guest mode, no account
  • One account on all your devices
  • No ads
  • Mandatory security updates

Frequently asked questions

Nella for Linux: your questions

Another question? Visit the help center or write to us.

Which distributions are supported?

Ubuntu 22.04 or later, and any 64-bit (x64) distribution with glibc 2.35 or later: Debian 12, Linux Mint 21, Fedora 36, Pop!_OS 22.04… The .deb targets Ubuntu, Debian and their derivatives; the AppImage works on the others.

AppImage or .deb: which one should I choose?

The AppImage runs anywhere without installation and updates itself. The .deb integrates with your package manager; the app then offers you the new package with each version.

The AppImage won’t open. What should I do?

Check that it is executable (chmod +x). On Ubuntu 22.04 and later, FUSE 2 may be missing: install libfuse2 (libfuse2t64 on Ubuntu 24.04).

How do updates work?

The AppImage downloads the new version, verifies its signature and checksum, then replaces itself. A version that fails verification is rejected.

Is the Linux app free?

Yes. You can use Nella Quick for free: without an account for your questions and web searches (20 messages every 3 hours), or with a more generous Free account, which also lets you build websites and apps. The Pro and Max plans add the more powerful models.

Can I use Nella on an ARM processor?

The desktop app is published for x64. On ARM (a Raspberry Pi, for example), use Nella in your browser, with the same account.
